3. Under the condition of high carbon content, in order to obtain high strength gray cast iron castings, the process of using all scrap steel and carburizing agent is adopted in the melting process to make the molten iron more pure and the casting material properties are high. Clean materials without oil pollution should be used in smelting to avoid electric leakage or excessive scum.
In the past, the iron filings added by some factories during smelting contained oil stain, which was easy to cause carbon deposition. The carbon deposition is on the cold surface of the furnace lining, even in the insulation layer. Because the furnace lining has not been fully sintered and penetrated into the back of the furnace lining, CO reacts with CO → C + O2 ↑ to form C, which is deposited in the cold surface of furnace lining or the pores of heat insulation materials. When carbon deposition occurs, it will cause leakage of furnace body ground and spark of coil. It can be avoided by using pure material. In another plant, because the source of scrap steel purchased was confused, and even the surface was coated with paint, lime, coal and other materials, there was a lot of scum, which consumed a lot of manpower and material resources in the later stage of slag removal.
